Great Wolf Lodge Birthday Surprise

We decided that Andrew’s 10th birthday deserved an extra special celebration.  I mean, turning 10 is a big deal!  He had 8 of his friends spend the night (let me tell you, it was LOUD at our house that night!)  and we also had a family celebration.  At his family birthday party the night before his actual birthday, we gave him an envelope with our Great Wolf Lodge reservation for his birthday night!  So early the next morning we loaded up and headed to Grapevine, TX.  We arrived on his birthday, played all day, spent the night in the “wolf den”, and played at the water park all day the next day.  It was the perfect amount of time!  We were able to do everything we wanted to in the water park numerous times and the boys played MagiQuest as well!  It was such a fun getaway and a perfect way to celebrate our favorite 10 year old!

Pete the Cat Birthday

Have you read any of the Pete the Cat books?  Especially if you have children in your life, but even if you don’t,  you really need to meet Pete the Cat!  His books are so much fun and have been some of Noah’s favorites for several years.  So, after reading the books in Kindergarten and doing all kinds of fun activities at school, it was no surprise that Noah decided he wanted to have a Pete the Cat birthday party.

It turned out to be such a fun theme and we were really able to get creative with it.  Since you can’t just go to Party Galaxy and buy Pete the Cat decorations, I turned to Pinterest.  🙂  I found several fun ideas that I was able to tweak and we ended up with a really cute party (at least Noah & I thought so!).  In Pete’s first book he steps in strawberries, blueberries and mud which turn his shoes all different colors.  One of the first things Noah and I decided was that we would HAVE to serve strawberries, blueberries and chocolate pudding at the party!  We also played “pin the shoes on Pete” and of course, read several of the stories that have made Pete so famous.

Both his friend party at the neighborhood clubhouse and the party we had with family the next day were such a success!  Most importantly, we celebrated 6 amazing years with our sweet, precious boy.  What a blessing!

A “Super” Weekend

As most of you know, birthdays are a big deal in our family!  Andrew chose to have a Super Mario themed birthday this year and we celebrated all weekend long!   Here are some the things that we packed into Andrew’s 8th birthday weekend in no particular order:  breakfast at the donut shop, water balloons, slip ‘n slide, Mario Sports Mix tournament, backyard campout with a few buddies, swimming, Andrew’s favorite meal of homemade Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (he could have chosen anything in OKC or Edmond!), Sunday School party with his favorite cookies – snickerdoodles (his teachers this year are the best!), family party, more Wii, building some new Lego sets, lots more cool presents, and lots of cake!  The best part of the weekend for me was when Andrew saw the cake and decorations I had been working on and said, “I think I need to pinch myself to make sure this is real!”  I love that boy!

Andrew’s 7th Birthday

Wow, how time flies.  It's been almost a YEAR since we posted something here (I blame Facebook and Twitter :).

Yesterday, we celebrated Andrew's SEVENTH birthday with our family.  We had a really great time.  Andrew, of course, had a blast.  Below is a slideshow that Angela created, showing some of the many highlights of our not-so-little boy's first 7 years:

Happy Birthday, Noah!

We had Noah's 2nd Birthday Party last Friday and it was so much fun!  His favorite character is Donald Duck, so that was our theme for the party.  Noah liked opening the presents, but the cake was definitely the best part for him.  He had two helpings and was still asking for more!

We can't believe that he is already two!  His vocabulary is all of a sudden exploding!  I can hardly keep track of all the new words that he is saying.  He and Andrew are really getting to be good friends too.  He is finally at the age where he can really play and respond and they have so much fun together!
