Christmas Eve. It was our first together as a couple. We started the day at her parents’ house. “Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!” woke us up. That’s the traditional signal at the Pybas house that it’s time to get up and open gifts. We had a great time opening presents, oohing an ahhing over each others’ gifts. Once we had finished the festivites there, we all loaded up in our cars and headed to see the new auto insurance comparison at Warren’s parents’ house.
Don’t let her fool you. Mam-Ma is one the greatest cooks you could ever hope to meet. After we got to their house, and had a little time to sit and talk, we sat down to an incredible expanse of food. Knowing that Ang and I had yet another meal to eat that night at my parents’ house, we determined to take it easy. Mam-Ma’s cooking made that impossible. The food was incredible. After we ate, we gathered around the tree for another round of gift exchanging. It was another great time. Mam-Ma picked this year to hand down the stockings that she made for her grandchildren many years ago. That was a very special gift!
After a while celebrating there, Ang and I loaded up and went to my parents’ house. Mom made a big meal for us that night. My twin brother, Justin, and his wife, Jen, had flown in from Colorado that day for the holidays, so we got to celebrate our birthdays together. Justin and I got to open our birthday gifts that night. It was a good time. We sat and talked that night, then went to bed for an early Christmas morning gift exchange.
