The family that runs together…

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon was a family affair for us this year!  Jason, Justin, my dad and I all ran the half marathon while my mom ran the kids’ race with the boys.  The weather was perfect and it was such a fun day.  It’s always so moving to see all the people who come to run the race in honor of family members, friends and fellow Oklahomans who were injured or killed in the OKC bombing in 1995.  As the race started and we ran with thousands of others past the bombing memorial, I was reminded of the verse that says “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”  Genesis 50:20

We did it!  Jason and I both finished our first half marathon last weekend!!  I’m not going to say it was easy or that I ran it very fast, but I am very proud to say that I finished it and ran the whole way (even if I was a lot slower than Jason).  It was a really fun race and was a nice little weekend getaway for us too.  We stayed in downtown Tulsa on Saturday night, were able to walk to the starting line early Sunday morning and then ride a shuttle back to our hotel from the finish line.  It was such a fun weekend and we both came away feeling very accomplished (if not also unbelievably sore!).
