Jason and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last week. Â We have been so blessed over the last 10 years! Â Below is a beautiful prayer that my Granddad prayed at our wedding and one that we will continue to pray for the next 10 years and beyond!
May your marriage bring you all the fullness a marriage should bring and may the Lord give you patience, tolerance and understanding. Â May your marriage be full of joy and laughter, as well as comfort and support. Â May you discover the true depth of love through loving one another.
May you remember that every burden is easier to carry when you have the shoulders of two instead of one. Â May you look to Jesus to refresh and strengthen you when you are weary and discouraged.
May you always be faithful to one another in your thoughts and deeds and, above all, be faithful to Jesus. Â May you remember that each time you speak to one another you are speaking to someone whom God has made very special. Â May you never hold your partner captive, but give him or her freedom to become all that God wants him or her to be.
May God help you to draw out the best and the potential in one another and to look for things to praise. Â May you never take each other for granted, often say, “I love you”, and take no notice of little faults. Â May you affirm one another, defer to one another, and believe in each other. Â If you have differences that push you apart, may both of you have good sense enough to take the first step back. Â May the words, “You’re right”, “Forgive me”, and “I forgive you” be close at hand. Â May God’s richest blessings be on your marriage all the days of your life. Â Amen.
